New venues bring with it new crowds, new adventures and new excitement and it’s always guaranteed to be a fresh experience.

Such was the case this past weekend when the SupaDrift fraternity descended on the coastal nook that is Port Shepstone for the KZN leg of the 2012 SupaDrift series. The venue was the brand new Dezzi Circuit, a playground built in the one Dez Gutzeit’s back yard – literally. Read the rest of this entry →

Jim McFarlane and Jason Webb

For the longest time, SupaDrift has been hosted at Pretoria based Zwartkops Raceway but this weekend tradition was broken as drifters from all around the country converged on the coastal town of East London and invaded the East London Grand Prix Circuit.

‘Slummies’ played host to the second round of the SupaDrift Series for 2012 and for many that are well familiar with the SupaDrift scene, it was the first time that they were subjected to the fast, long bends of the track. Read the rest of this entry →

BahnStorming East London – SupaDrift Slides In

March 7, 2012 in Upcoming Events

Wade van Zummeren

This weekend the drift community casts it’s gaze towards the coastal town of East London where the second round of the SupaDrift Series is set to take place.

A large Gauteng contingent, largely regarded as the driving force of drifting in South Africa, will be marching into the Eastern Cape town for a battle with the local stalwarts. East London Grand Prix Circuit is the battle field and is home to the likes of Wade van Zummeren, Michael Radloff and Jethro Schwartz who will all have the home town advantage.

The East London GP layout is a fast and difficult stretch that will test the mettle of many a GP based driver. No doubt that Jason Webb will be looking forward to clinching another podium in a bit to open even more of a gap on his opponents.

Gates open at 8am on 10 March and entry will cost R50pp with youngsters paying R25 for entry.

The added bonus of a simultaneous drag event will provide some variety and will feature the Speed and Sound Drag Army

SupaDrift 8 Final Round

November 28, 2011 in Drifting, Reports and Results, SupaDrift, Upcoming Events

The end of a year is a strange thing. We’re tired and drained and have our eyes set on the end of year festivities, welcoming the thought of some time off. On Saturday, 26 November, our focus was a little different. The final round of the 2011 SupaDrift Series was upon us and offered an exciting display of tyre destruction. Riding on the back of a Wesbank Super Series meeting at Zwartkops Raceway, the final round would be the second night event of the season. Read the rest of this entry →

EL Practice – Saturday 12 November

November 10, 2011 in Other

The East London boys are hosting yet another practice day at the East London Grand Prix Circuit, once again with the option of a suicide ride or three. This will be held in the Esses complex of the circuit.

Entry will be R100 per driver for the day (bring your own tyres!) and spectators will only be charged R20. All the proceeds are going to the track renovations. The guys are trying to raise funds to redo the kerbing around the kart circuit. Help support this cause and create a killer venue for future events.

Suicide ride prices will vary depending on the class of car and tyre usage but all are welcome to join.

Drivers to please remember their helmets – no helmet, no track time. Practice starts at 10am and will continue until late.
