Japan Auto: Round 2 Awaits

It’s a drift overdose this weekend for the Rock Raceway. Hot on the heels of the recent Carnival City Championship round, this Saturday, 5 May, sees the second round of the Japan Auto Series unfold on the very same tarmac that claimed several cars at the last event.

Young Lee-Roy Frans will be wanting to secure another podium finish after bombing out in the second round of the Carnival City Championship and with the recent form of his father, Hannes, we may just see a repeat 1-2 for the the Frans family. Japan Auto Round 1 – Going Large

This past weekend a healthy contingent of drifters invaded The Rock Raceway for the first round of the Japan Auto Drift series for 2012.

Now in its third year, the Japan Auto Series attracts the likes of serious competitive drifters and also acts as a feeder for novices and beginners. This is largely due to the Silver Cup eliminations that are held on the day for those that didn’t manage to qualify in the Top 16.

While the Silver Cup doesn’t carry championship points nor prize monies, trophies are still awarded; encouragement for those still cutting their teeth. Taking the win here was Dennis Palm in the Nissan Skyline R30 GTX with Duane Small taking second and young 17-year old Mozambican, Chail Cassamo claiming third. Read the rest of this entry →

Drift Overdose – Japan Auto Round 1

We’ve kicked off the year with a Rockmania, we’ve opened the books on the Carnival City Championship and SupaDrift Series for 2012 and all that’s left to do is christen the Japan Auto Series.

Last year was a great year for the Japan Auto Series and did wonders as a feeder series for the others, welcoming many new names and faces. These rookies have done well and will now be gunning for podium finishes this year.

The first round of the Japan Auto Drift Series kicks off this Saturday at The Rock Raceway in Brakpan at 4pm. Read the rest of this entry →

Japan Auto Finals – Running The Wall.

Sweltering heat greeted the SA Drift team on Saturday as we descended on The Rock Raceway for the final round of the 2011 Japan Auto Drift Series. As requested, we managed to get some great footage of the practice sessions and will be bringing you another video to enjoy.

Twilight Time For Japan Auto Series

On the back of an exciting SupaDrift final, we cast our attention a little further East for the Japan Auto Series Final.

This weekend sees The Rock Raceway play host to the final installment of the Japan Auto Series for 2011. Drivers will descent on the Brakpan based track in a bid to secure as many points possible for one last time, hoping that their efforts will be enough to bump them up a place or three, while a select few aim for championship glory.
