Mother Nature can be a cruel mistress. ‘Raining on your parade’ has never been more apt than what it was for the drifting squad that geared up to put on a drifting display this past weekend at the Top Gear Festival.

The drivers descended on Kyalami Raceway on Thursday with the first practice session marked to take place later that evening. Exhibitors were still building stands and setting up displays by the time the punters finally made their way into the venue.

DRIFTING AT TOP GEAR FESTIVAL

SA Drift is pleased to confirm the presence of our very own South African drifters at the BBC Top Gear Festival 2011. They’ll be snaking their way through the bowl in front of the Festival punters in the Bowl of the Kyalami Racetrack.

It has been confirmed that our drifters will be showing off their sideways skills on all four days of the show with time slots as follows:

Thursday –
Drift Practice: 12h00 -13h00
Friday –
Drift Demo event: 15h25 – 15h55, 18h00 – 18h20
Saturday –
Drift Demo event: 10h00 – 10h30, 16h30 – 17h00
Sunday -
Drift Demo event: 10h00 – 10h25, 16h30 – 17h00
This is not part of the Stunt Show so there’s no need for Silver tickets in order to be able to witness the mayhem – Bronze tickets will grant access.
BUT WAIT! THIS JUST IN!

Rumour has it that not only will our drifters be competing against each other, but they’ll also be going against the Top Gear Festival Team of drifters consisting of Jeremy Clarkson, Tiff Needell and Sabine Schmitz.
This promises to be a thrill a minute! Be sure not to miss it!
