Monstermob Shakedown – 5 May

Being spread thin this last weekend didn’t help any, especially with events on the go in both Johannesburg and Kimberley.

Monstermob held the first round in their drift series: Shakedown and it was well attended by the coastal competitors and a few Johannesburg entries. It’s good to see that the likes of Jacques Lemmer hasn’t hung up his helmet indefinitely.

The crew from KZN Drift also joined in on the action, Shain Ferreira’s new R33 bearing the brunt of an untimely mistake and making contact with the unforgiving walls. Read the rest of this entry →

MonsterMob Easter Showdown

Easter Weekend has become synonymous with MonsterMob Raceway, what is three days of absolute carnage and speed. While the spinning competition takes care of the Saturday, the Sunday is reserved for the drifting competition and this year it was quite well attended, despite there being other shows on the go at the same time. Hardcore Drifting at Phakisa Freeway – 30 March

It was first, not only for the drifters, but for the town of Welkom too. This past weekend, Hardcore Drifting hosted the first full blown drift event at the Phakisa Freeway super-complex in the Freestate town of Welkom.

It was met with great enthusiasm from both the locals and the out of town drifters who, thanks to the numerous individual sponsors of the event, streamed into Welkom on Friday for an quick practice session before the rain came down. Read the rest of this entry →

Wheels of Fury – Kaihatsu Factory Report

After the unfortunate failure of my Silvia’s SR20 and it needing a R16K rebuild, I came across an amazing deal.

Brenton’s V8 S13 has received a lot of bad reviews in the past and sat on Gumtree for sale for a long time as there were rumours going around about the chassis being skew, everyone warned me about this car.
