OTTO GRAVEN QUALIFYING AT FORMULA DRIFT
April 9, 2011 in Drifting, Upcoming Events, Videos
Otto Graven’s experience at the first round of the 2011 Formula Drift Championship has been a trying one so far.
Otto first had to overcome a few testing obstacles before he managed to set foot on the track in Long Beach California. The Nissan 350Zs got caught up in customs and it looked like he would be able to make the practice sessions leading up to qualifying. Hard work and numerous calls back and forth to confirm that the Zs are in fact race cars were needed and then came the question of tyres. Otto managed to secure some Hankooks for the event, tyres that Otto says “The Z don’t like (the Hankooks) at the moment”. Tweaking of the car’s setup should rectify this.
After minimal practice time, Otto then faced the panel of judges for his first qualifying run. Otto understeered into the first corner and the almighty judges deemed that to be enough of an infringement to score him a zero. These guys are strict. His second run went considerably better. Otto was clocked at 59mph (95km/h) and managed to hook up an impressive run despite the pressure. A small variance off the desired line saw him lose a few points but his angle impressed the judges. He qualified with a score of 68.4 and this was good enough to place him 26th in the Top 32 standings.
Here’s how the ladder looks for today’s elimination rounds.
Practice for the Top 32 will start at 6pm local time and the elimination round will follow thereafter. You can follow the action by watching it on live streaming at http://www.justin.tv/ or logging on to Formuladrift.com

Well………….. what happened???? All the coverage & then all dead !!!!!!!!
Must be the negative statements you made in the interview with On The Track Magazine, about drifting is not for people with “JALOPIES” coming back at you…. Cos from what happened a “JALOPIE” BEAT YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well…………… news flash – drifting is for people with passion & not about the price of your car !!!!!!!!!!!!
I will like to support you but as i was checking your career in drifting i believe, to you its more about cash then about talent, many of those people driving the “JALOPIES” have more talent then you and some of them kicked your ass on local competitions
